Daily Reflection Monday 23rd August 2021

Mt 23:13-22

“Alas for you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites …… ” Just imagine having Jesus talk to you like in today’s reading, it must have been quite a rebuke! But that isn’t a bad thing.

We sometimes need people to speak the truth to us whether or not we want to hear it. For the truth, andonly the truth, can make us free from the shackles of sin, strengthen us in the pathway of righteousness. If you are my friend, if you are concerned about my soul, give me the truth.

Do not praise my virtues while remaining silent about my vices. If I can be a better person, please correct me! And please correct me in love.

Dear Jesus, teach me your ways. Help me be receptive when other people correct me for the good of my soul. Help me to grow in virtue and holiness. Amen.
