CWAS – Nsambya Babies’ Home still needs More support, says Director Sr. Teddy Nakyanzi

Yesterday, 28th September was the 2nd Edition of the CWAS – Nsambya Babies Home Fundraising and Charity Walk, that was launched earlier this year.

Flagged off by the Archbishop of Kampala Archdiocese His Grace Paul Ssemogerere, the charity Walk that was majestically led by Uganda Police Force Brass Band and Uganda Prisons services team, began at Uganda Railway Grounds along Jinja Road at 9 am , through Mukwano road, and the Arena Mall Flyover to reach the Babies Home in Nsambya organized to sensitize the city residents and Uganda at Large about the need of helping hands for the welfare of the vulnerable babies in Nutritional, Residential, Educational and better Health care aspects.

The fundraising session was briefly a Success where guests representing various government and non – Governmental  organizations, institutions and well-wishers contributed distinguished sums of money to run for the needy Babies as listed below;
Bank of Uganda,
Centenary Bank – 20 millions Uganda shillings, Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) represented by its commissioner General – 10 millions Uganda shillings cheque, Muhammud Tuban  of Four ways Group of Companies – 15 millions Uganda shillings, Uganda Prisons services represented by the incharge of Custodial services and Rehabilitation/Integration donated 8 million and pledged tones of Seeds to the Babies home, Pax insurance company – 2 millions Uganda shillings, SWICO – 2 Million, Uganda Communications Commission 3 millions, and Many Other Institutions and organizations.

The Chief Guest at the Charity Walk and Fundraising, Dr. Michael E. Otim from Bank of Uganda thanked the administration of Nsambya Babies Home for organizing the fundraising which is a sign of concern for the well-being of the needy ones.

Quoting the Saint Mother Theresa Of Calcutta, among other quotations he made, ” It’s is not about Doing great things  but doing small things with great love , as duty of everyone to care for one another especially the vulnerable babies who are the future responsible leaders of Uganda. He also called Upon the Public to come in support of not only Nsambya babies home, but also all those that need a hand.

Rev. Sr. Teddy Nakyanzi , the acting director at Nsambya Babies Home, with heart felt joy, appreciated the People for the love towards the Babies who the Caretakers are giving what their maternal parents would be giving them, instead, they abandoned them.

Sr. Teddy Reported that the home still calls for not only urgent and immediate support, but also continuous support since their needs are continuous as long as they still have an increasing number of those to take care of, thus calling upon the general public, government and private organizations to donate financial and physical support.

She finally, in a special way, recognized and thanked Mr. Dan Mugula ,one of the Successful People who were groomed in the babies home and Currently doing a PhD, for donating Two Cows towards the fundraising.

About CWAS and Nsambya Babies Home:

Child Welfare and Adoption Society (CWAS) founded in 1958 (66years old now) is an umbrella body that encompasses three homes namely; Nsambya Babies Home (1969), Kankobe Childrens Home (1984) and Nateete Family Group.

CWAS, directed by Sr. Sarah Nnaamala,  bears the responsibility of overseeing all activities carried out in all the homes named above and to make sure all the homes stand to look after the different age groups of children under their care and protection.
