Pope Leo XIV Appoints Archbishop Tomasz Grysa as Apostolic Nuncio to Uganda

The Holy Father, Pope Leo XIV, has appointed Archbishop Tomasz Grysa as the new Apostolic Nuncio to Uganda.

Until now, Archbishop Grysa has served as Apostolic Nuncio to Madagascar, Seychelles and the Republic of Mauritius, as well as Apostolic Delegate to Comoros and La Réunion.

Born in Poznań, Poland, on 16 October 1970, Archbishop Grysa was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Poznań on 25 May 1995. He holds a doctorate in Canon Law and entered the diplomatic service of the Holy See on 1 July 2001.

During his diplomatic ministry, Archbishop Grysa has served in Pontifical Representations in the Russian Federation, India, Belgium, Mexico, Brazil, the Permanent Mission of the Holy See to the United Nations in New York, and in Israel and the Apostolic Delegation in Jerusalem and Palestine.

On 27 September 2022, he was appointed Apostolic Nuncio to Madagascar and Apostolic Delegate to Comoros and La Réunion. He was subsequently named Apostolic Nuncio to Seychelles on 9 February 2023 and to the Republic of Mauritius on 21 March 2023.

Apart from his native Polish, Archbishop Grysa speaks Italian, French, English, Spanish, Portuguese and Russian.

The appointment was announced by the Apostolic Nunciature in Uganda.
