The Lira Diocese Curia has convened and decided to actively promote the three foundational pillars of the Catholic Church: Catechesis, Education, and Health, in anticipation of the Holy Year 2025.

In his address to the Curia members, Bishop Rt. Rev. Sanctus Lino Wanok emphasized the vital role of the Curia as the backbone of the diocese, highlighting the importance of their meetings to foster unity and collaboration.

He noted that while the Gospel is shared with the faithful, it is equally essential to address their health and provide catechesis on the Biblical teachings and traditions of the Catholic Church. Furthermore, he stressed the significance of educating the youth from their families, recognizing and nurturing each child’s unique gifts, which should ultimately lead to acts of charity and love.

The Bishop remarked that without love, meaningful relationships in marriages, families, and workplaces become challenging. As the Jubilee year approaches, Rt. Rev. Sanctus urged the Christian community in the Diocese to embrace the sacrament of confession and to live according to the Gospel. He described this period as one of repentance and grace, offering an opportunity for forgiveness of past sins.He encouraged the community to be aware of prevalent health issues in their regions, to seek preventive measures, and to ensure access to medical care.

Additionally, he called for an evaluation of educational efforts aimed at transforming children into Christ-like individuals, while fostering a spirit of charity and a willingness to share resources, all while maintaining a commitment to prayer and diligent work.

Rev. Fr. Vincent Orum, AJ, the Diocesan Pastoral Coordinator, expressed gratitude to the Bishop for his unwavering dedication to attending meetings.

He also paid tribute to Rev. Sr. Doreen, a recent member of the Curia who has passed away.He urged Curia members to raise awareness among Christians about the significance of the Jubilee year, emphasizing the importance of valuing the sacrament of confession through catechesis, reconciliation, and penance. He encouraged Christians to strive for self-reliance through hard work.

The Holy Year 2025 is set to commence in December.
