By Kasese Guide Radio

Kasese, Uganda – Rev. Fr. Leonary Sumbuku Sibitha, the Parish Priest of Kasanga, has commissioned 18 new Catechists and officially opened St. Paul Kalehe Roman Catholic Church as a sub-parish.

During his homily at the Holy Mass on the first Sunday of Advent, Fr. Sumbuku reminded the Catechists of their crucial role in standing strong for Christ and promoting the Gospel. He encouraged Christians to focus on reconciliation, unity, love, peaceful living, and helping the less privileged during the Advent season.

The Chief Guest, Ms. Marilyn Kabugho Wa Kighotha, emphasized the need for collaborative efforts to combat Gender-Based Violence (GBV), which she cited as a major contributor to marriage challenges and disrupted education among affected families.

Mr. George Mayinja, the Kasese Diocesan head of Laity, urged Christians to be strong in their faith and salvation. He praised the commissioning of the Catechists as a timely intervention to boost the spread of the Gospel.

The head Catechist, Mr. Pascal Mukundu, and Catechist David Mafuta advised the newly commissioned Catechists to serve as a bridge between the lay faithful and the clergy, promoting spiritual and socio-economic activities in their Church.
