Kasana Luweero Diocese to host 13th National Caritas week

Luweero: The Diocese of Kasana Luweero will host the 13th National Caritas week. This was revealed by the Director Caritas Kasanaesis Fr. Hillary Muheza on the 22nd July 2022. ” I have the pleasure to officially inform you that the 13th National Caritas week, will be hosted by Kampala Ecclesiastical Province in Kasana Luweero Diocese” he said.

In the year 2009 His Grace Archbishop Cyprian K. Lwanga (R.I.P), who was president of Caritas in Uganda introduced a new idea of all Directors of Caritas together with the diocesan women coordinators to gather for afull week in rotational manner according to Ecclesiastical Provinces to enhance unity within Caritas fraternity in Uganda. The hosting Diocese is given a full Year of preparations for this great event and it’s an opportunity for the hosting Diocese to deepen it’s mission of evangelization in the area of charity, finance, economic and social development.
It’s also a moment to bring together other stake holders in development politicians i.e Mps, government agencies and authorities, civil society organizations and bring sector foundations.

Caritas is the pastoral development arm of the Catholic church and promotes faith in action among God’s people (Jm 2:18)

The Director Caritas Kasanaesis noted that it is going to be a full year of activities geared towards preparations of this great event and the launch of the Year of Caritas in Kasana Luweero Diocese will on July 31st 2022 at Waluleeta when the Diocese celebrate St Kizito day.

The 13th Caritas National week is scheduled for Tuesday March 28th 2023 to palm Sunday April 2nd 2023.

The Administrator of the Diocese has appointed a committee to fore see preparations of this great event led by Fr. Mathias Jjooga.

A road map was designed and the chairperson encouraged all Christians and people of good will in Kampala Ecclesiastical Province to support the different programs geared towards this great event.
