Archbishop Paul Ssemogerere of Kampala Archdiocese warmly congratulated Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II, King of Buganda Kingdom, on his 30th Coronation Anniversary, which took place today, July 31, 2023. The Archbishop, along with thousands of others, gathered at the palace (Lubiri) on Mengo Hill in Kampala City, Uganda, to celebrate with the Kabaka.

During the celebration, Archbishop Ssemogerere expressed gratitude to Kabaka Ronald for inspiring the people of Buganda to engage in various socio-economic development activities, such as coffee planting, symbolized by the slogan “Emwanyi Terimba” (Coffee never lies). He also commended Kabaka Ronald’s late grandfather, King Mutesa I, for inviting missionaries to Uganda, leading to religious transformation in both Uganda and Buganda.

Archbishop Ssemogerere acknowledged the significance of the Kabaka’s 30 years of reign, highlighting the positive impact on Buganda and Uganda as a whole, including social, political, economic, health, and other developmental aspects. He conveyed his congratulations to the Kabaka, emphasizing the importance of his leadership and the blessings bestowed upon the cultural heritage and leaders of Buganda Kingdom.

Referring to Psalm 72, which he dedicated to the Kabaka on this special occasion, the Archbishop emphasized the need to obey and listen to both the Lord, the King of Heaven, and earthly leaders, particularly King Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II. He expressed his belief that the Kabaka is a God-fearing leader who loves the Church and trusts in God’s providence.

Archbishop Paul Ssemogerere concluded his speech with a general prayer and blessing for the King, the Kingdom’s leaders, including the Prime Minister and ministers, as well as all the servants in the palace. He wished for their faithful and fruitful service, aiming to propel Buganda Kingdom towards remarkable development, both within the kingdom and in their respective homes.
