Archbishop Paul Ssemogerere Inspires Faith and Excellence at Cardinal Nsubuga Memorial School Confirmation Ceremony

Archbishop Paul Ssemogerere visited Cardinal Nsubuga Memorial Secondary School in Ttomi Buloba and confirmed 70 candidates into the Catholic faith. He welcomed the faithful, religious priests, Good Samaritan sisters, parents, school staff, and invited guests.

He expressed gratitude to the administration for organizing a special day with a clean environment and diligent students. He thanked the parents for entrusting their children to the school and praised the peaceful atmosphere that facilitates effective studying.
Archbishop Ssemogerere also expressed gratitude to the Good Samaritan sisters for establishing a Catholic school that focuses on moral and academic excellence. He thanked God for his 15 years as a bishop, which he celebrated on August 23rd.

The Archbishop emphasized that Catholic schools are meant to spread the gospel of God. When a child attends a Catholic school, they not only gain knowledge but also imbibe religious values and good morals. This contributes to a society characterized by disciplined and trustworthy individuals. He urged the faithful to preserve their Catholic identity and requested the school to maintain religious practices, such as weekly masses, daily prayers, and the display of Catholic symbols.

Archbishop Ssemogerere urged the students to follow the example of Cardinal Nsubuga, who dedicated his life to serving the underserved. He mentioned Cardinal Nsubuga’s contributions, such as starting the Brothers of Amansi, St. Mbaaga Seminary, Pope Paul Memorial Hotel, and the Good Samaritan sisters. Cardinal Nsubuga requested to be buried at Bakateyamba Nalukolongo, rather than in the cathedral like many other bishops. The Archbishop asked the faithful to pray for Cardinal Nsubuga and requested that if he has reached Heaven, he would also pray for those still on Earth.

Expressing appreciation, the Archbishop thanked the catechists and all involved in preparing the candidates for confirmation. He emphasized the importance of maintaining integrity and urged the candidates not to deviate into other practices. Archbishop Ssemogerere reminded the community of how Catholics were once regarded as faithful and loyal individuals who served as lawyers and accountants. He encouraged everyone to reflect on their values as Catholics and evaluate themselves accordingly.
