🕊️A Tribute to Archbishop Emeritus Paul K Bakyenga: A Beacon of Humanity and Compassion🕊️

It has been 40 days since the passing of Archbishop Emeritus Paul K Bakyenga. The number 40 represents new life, growth, and transformation. Interestingly, St Mukasa Seminary remembers the tragic accident that occurred on September 1, 2011, the same day as the Archbishop’s passing. This event claimed two lives on board a Maryhill High School bus that was on a study trip to Mweya Safari Lodge in Kasese District.
As the ultimate Rector of seminaries in the diocese, Archbishop Bakyenga visited the seminary on the same evening to mourn and comfort the affected individuals. During his address, he shed tears of sorrow, emphasising the importance of being compassionate and humane. He reminded the attendees that being human is what will ultimately save mankind.
Archbishop Bakyenga’s empathy was not limited to words but also translated into action. He gave out 2 million shillings to a young boy who only needed 400,000 shillings, having observed the misery and need in the boy’s eyes. His philosophy centred around fighting for humanity, which included being altruistic towards individuals, understanding different cultures and embracing humanity in its entirety.
Through his philosophy, we learn that our self-perception is the foundation for our values, choices, relationships and overall relationship with nature. Love, prudence, honesty, integrity, courage, self-awareness, and wholeheartedness form the foundation for all other human qualities.
Emulating Archbishop Bakyenga’s philosophy and striving towards humaneness will enable us to protect life and health, respect human beings and ultimately promote mutual understanding. This will help us achieve our goals and lead fulfilling lives.
The passing of His Grace Paul K Bakyenga is a great loss to humanity. His legacy will forever be remembered as the gleam of humanity, and his soul shall RIP
