2024, a 60 years Canonization marker; Kamwokya Choir honors Martyrs in a splendid Concert.
On Sunday, 21st July, Uganda Martyrs Choir – Kamwokya in Kampala Archdiocese, held a Martyrs Coral performance in commemoration of the 60th Anniversary of the Canonization Of the Uganda Martyrs in Rome, 60 years back.
The Melodious carols took place at Holy Trinity Parish, Kamwokya and many guest – choirs to mention; St. Agnes – One from Gombe, Nebbi Diocesan Choir, Choirs from the Holy Uganda Martyrs Subparish, Kamwokya participated.
Rev. Fr. Joseph Balikuddembe, the Patron of this particular Choir, in his speech, encouraged and tasked the faithful who attended the performance to name their children and institutions, after the names of the Ugandan Saints, the Martyrs to honor the the Martyrs 60th Canonization anniversary that is running throughout this year.
In attendance among other guests, was the Hon. Woman Member of Parliament for Amuru District Lucy Akello, who represented the Guest of Honor the Hon. Speaker of the Parliament Of Uganda Anita Among and pledged 20 million Uganda Shillings as a contribution to the Choir’s well-being and the roofing of Kamwokya Parish church.
The parish Priest Fr. Kato Ssemogerere and other Priests of the parish were present to witness this Carol performance in honor of the Martyrs.
Hon. Lucy Akello also applauded St. Agnes Choir from Gombe parish for keeping the faith in Butambala , a place popularly known as an Islamic Community due to the biggest population of Muslims.
