Fort Portal, Uganda – The St. Adolf Kanyabacope Holy Cross Parish in the Fort Portal Diocese has celebrated its first anniversary with a series of significant events, including the blessing of the Grotto, the consecration of the church and altar, the wedding of three couples, and the confirmation of 339 candidates.

Rt. Rev. Dr. Robert K. Muhiirwa Akiiki, Bishop of Fort Portal Diocese, made his inaugural visit to the parish, consecrating the church and its holy altar. He urged the congregation to treat the consecrated spaces with reverence and respect.

Bishop Muhiirwa praised the parish for its remarkable achievements within its first year, emphasizing the importance of seeking comfort through the intercession of Mother Mary in prayer. During the same Mass, he administered the sacrament of Confirmation to 339 candidates, encouraging them to embrace the Holy Spirit and its seven gifts.

The Bishop advised the newly confirmed to heed the Word of God, engage in regular and collective prayer, and participate in the sacraments of the Eucharist and Penance. He also cautioned students against peer pressure and encouraged them to join church groups for spiritual guidance and mentorship.

Rev. Fr. Ronald Kawooya, the Parish Priest, expressed gratitude to Bishop Muhiirwa for presiding over the ceremonies.

Patrick Siisa, Chairperson of the Council of Laity, commended the parish’s progress, saying, “We are proud of the achievements of Kanyabacope Parish, and we congratulate the newly confirmed on their commitment to their faith.” He also acknowledged the strong teamwork between the parishioners, their priests, the mother parish of Kyarusozi, and the local government.
