The death of priests affects service delivery to the people of God – Bishop Wanok laments
The Bishop of Lira Catholic Diocese in Uganda has lamented the increasing death of priests and its negative impact on service delivery to the people of God. Speaking at Nebbi Cathedral on the 12th of August at the funeral service of Fr Alfred Onyutha who recently died in a car accident in the United States, Bishop Sanctus Wanok noted that priests are multi-taskers who perform a variety of roles in the communities. Not only do priests preach the word of God, but they also console and mend broken hearts.
Bishop Wanok cited the example of the deceased Fr Alfred Onyutha who spent most of his time in the United States as a chaplain to prisoners and to the sick in hospitals. Bishop Wanok asked Christians to continue praying for the safety and good health of the priests.
The late Fr Alfred Onyutha was born on the 14th of August 1959, and he was buried on the 12th of August at Nebbi Cathedral .
