LIRA DIOCESE: The Ministry of Health has officially elevated Alanyi Health Center III to Health Center IV in Abako Sub County, Alebtong district.
The launch ceremony was attended by Rt. Rev. Sanctus Lino Wanok, the Bishop of Lira Diocese, who emphasized the importance of individual responsibility in maintaining good health.
Bishop Wanok noted that many people in the Lango sub-region are engaging in health-threatening behaviors such as drug abuse and drunkenness, which can lead to serious health complications and the spread of diseases like HIV/AIDS.
He also expressed concern about the rising cases of school dropouts and called on stakeholders to develop strategies to support the youth.
Hon. Denis Hamson Obua, the Government Chief Whip and Member of Parliament for Ajuri County, praised Bishop Wanok and the Diocese for their commendable work in Alebtong district. He observed that the Bishop has been instrumental in opening two Eucharistic centers in the district and has been camping in Alebtong for the past three weeks.
The elevation of Alanyi Health Center III to Health Center IV is expected to improve health service delivery in the district. The facility, which started as a dispensary in 1968, currently has 28 staff members, including one sitting doctor.
Rev. Sr. Phaida, the In-Charge of Alanyi Health Center IV, emphasized the need for more staff to cater to the growing demand for health services.
