Bishop Jjumba Encourages Christians to Stay Committed to Vows

Today, Rt. Rev. Serverus Jjumba, the Ordinary Bishop of Masaka Catholic Diocese, urged all Christians to remain faithful and committed to their respective vows. He delivered this message during the quarterly Mass and gathering of the Masaka-Kampala residents Catholic Community at Bishop Ddungu Memorial Gardens in Nsambya.

Bishop Jjumba emphasized the significance of upholding vows, not only in marriage but also in religious life, priesthood, and consecrated life. He expressed concern about the increasing disregard for these commitments and highlighted the importance of faithfully honoring them to reflect the purity and goodness of the Lord and His Kingdom.

Referring to the day’s Bible readings, Bishop Jjumba emphasized the call to live pure lives by eliminating hindrances to holiness. He also stressed the value of the gift of Counsel, provided by the Holy Spirit, which aids not only in spiritual life but also in social interactions among Christians.

In addition, Bishop Jjumba reminded the congregation about the upcoming Buganda Cultural Celebration, commemorating Kabaka’s 30th Coronation anniversary. He encouraged active engagement, emphasizing that culture and the Church are not in opposition but can work together harmoniously.

Bishop Jjumba congratulated Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi on his 30th Coronation anniversary and assured him and the entire Buganda Kingdom of his prayers. He also addressed the neglect of revitalizing activities like coffee growing within Buganda, which were once instrumental in reducing poverty in many homes.

Mr. Mpagi Masembe Dominico, Chairperson of the Masaka-Kampala Catholic Community, expressed gratitude to Bishop Jjumba for his consistent support and attendance at their gatherings. He welcomed new members and encouraged them to invite others to join the community for future celebrations.
