Bishop Kibira Urges Christians to Combat Ignorance and Poverty

Rt. Rev. Francis Aquirinus Kibira Kambale, Ordinary of the Diocese of Kasese, has reiterated his call for parents and guardians to focus on guided parenting that promotes education to combat ignorance and poverty.

Bishop Kibira highlighted the rise in failed marriages and academic challenges among young people in the district as a result of parents failing to fulfill their obligations, which they pledged before the Altar during their children’s baptism.

During his speech after presiding over a holy Mass and confirming 355 individuals on 30th July 2023, Bishop Kibira opened a Eucharistic center at St. Immaculate Catholic Church- Katooke in Rukoki Sub County. He attributed the increasing cases of domestic violence, land conflicts, and suicide in Kasese district to ignorance, resulting from limited education in many communities.

Known for his developmental ideas and campaign against laziness, Bishop Kibira encouraged the planting of avocados, following a German national’s establishment of an ointment factory in Kasese that requires the produce as a raw material.

The Head of Laity for Kigoro Sub Parish, Mr. Paul Agaba, called for the establishment of a Catholic-founded secondary school in the area as a means of combating ignorance among young people, who often travel great distances for education.

Earlier, Bishop Kibira praised the family of Mzee Bruno for offering four acres of land to the Diocese of Kasese for developmental activities.
