Bishop Raphael P’Mony Wokorach appointed New Archbishop of Gulu
NEW ARCHBISHOP OF GULU ARCHDIOCESE
His Holiness Pope Francis has appointed a new Metropolitan Archbishop of Gulu, the Rt. Rev. Raphael p’Mony Wokorach, M.C.C.J (Combonian Missionary of the Heart of Jesus], until now the Bishop of Nebbi Catholic Diocese after accepting resignation from the pastoral care of the Archdiocese of Gulu presented by Archbishop John Baptist Odama, for reaching the age limit, according to Can 401, § 1 of the Code of Canon Law.
The message of pronouncing was delivered earlier today by Archbishop Luigi Bianco the Apostolic Nuncio to Uganda at Nebbi Cathedral.
His Grace John Baptist Odama, Archbishop Emeritus of Gulu, there after, has been appointed Apostolic Administrator of the Archdiocese of Gulu until the day of the canonical possession by the newly appointed Archbishop.
The Apostolic Nunciature headed by Archbishop Luigi Bianco the Apostolic Nuncio to Uganda congratulates the new Archbishop Raphael p’Mony Wokorach, M.C.C.J and invokes abundant blessings upon his pastoral ministry in that local Church.
The Apostolic Nunciature expresses it’s gratitude to His Grace John Baptist Odama for his generous service during twenty-five years as the first Metropolitan Archbishop of Gulu (1999-2024) and before as the first Bishop of the Diocese of Nebbi (1996-1999)While thanking God for this gift and entrusting the ministry of the new Archbishop to him, the nuncio avails himself of the opportunity to wish the newly appointed and all the faithful, a grace-filled celebration of the imminent Easter festivities.
