Bishop Sabino Calls for a fight to defend Morality.
Nabulagala, Kampala: Rt Rev. Sabino Ocan Odoki the Bishop of the Catholic diocese of Arua has called on Catholics to fight and defend Morality both in the Church and in their communities of residence.
Presiding over the annual Celebration of the 144th Anniversary of the First Eucharist in Uganda as the main celebrant that took place yesterday Sunday 25th June at Mapeera Nabulagala parish, Bishop Sabino commissioned not only the young Catholics but also their parents to go and be models of morality in their communities.

He said that the current situation in Uganda and the entire world is terrifying looking on how young and old people are standing to defend immorality instead of morality. He gave an example of drunkenness among youths and increased infidelity among married couples that is causing continuous breakups in Marriage which has no good in it but affecting them, the children and the entire family. He said these in reference to the Martyrs of Uganda, Faith rooted from the missionaries of Christ who sow a seed in them to fight for holiness through morality and spreading the word of God.

He added that the work of missionaries is a living symbol to all christians in Uganda because the celebration of the first Eucharist in Uganda is a the root for why we’re Catholics and in the celebration of the body and blood of Christ, all who share on it are bonded together with Christ not just for that moment but for ever but with immorality, christians are apart with Christ because they can’t participate in Holy communion.
“The Eucharist is an everlasting sign that whenever we share it, we keep remembering the love of Christ, how united we are, with Christ and how divine we are before the father our creator” Bishop Sabino added. He also asked all the pilgrims who were present at the celebration to respect self, fellows and protect God’s creation.

He asked them to stop all sorts of environmental degradation cautioning them on the continuous improper use of Polythene bags ” buveera” in supermarkets, trading centers, cities and everywhere which are too poisonous and dangerous to the fruitful soils and environment imaginary giving an example of what happens to a cow or human or any living creature when it swallows a Polythene bag. He continued and challenged the christians reminding them of the Holy father Pope Francis call to Laudato si, and it self being our benefit to live in a friendly beautiful environment and cautioned them to also stop deforestation or other practices that cause harm to the environment.
The prelate reminded them to imitate the Missionaries who even preached the word of God with braveness and strong even in the harsh conditions which surrounded them, strongly in Christ they had faith and even reached their death, with no fear to die because of Christ.

At the same celebration, over 200 young Catholics received their first Holy communion and Bishop Sabino commissioned them with a gift of the Rosary to each one of them, to keep them in love and devoted to the blessed Virgin Mary who is the mother of the Church.
