FOLLOWING JESUS ISN’T EASY BUT IT’S TOTALLY WORTH IT

Living the Christian life is not easy. Following Jesus Christ means willingness to endure reproach, and rejection even from within one’s household for his sake. To be worthy of Jesus, we have to take up crosses not made of wood, but rather the “cross” of saying “No” to our selfish and sinful desires. Christians must withstand much if they are committed. That is not easy. In fact, it can be painful. Following Christ may seem costly now, but in the long run is well worth the pain and effort. Nothing can compensate for the loss of eternal life.

Lord Jesus, following you isn’t easy. Support me to carry my cross because you carried yours for me. Help me not to fear suffering for your sake. Help me to focus on the eternal crown of life that awaits me. Amen.
