The 20th November 2022 is the date set for the beatification of Fr. Dr. Joseph Ambrozoli at Kalongo Mission in Uganda’s Gulu Archdiocese. The ceremony for the beatification will elevate the late Fr. Dr. Joseph Ambrozoli a Comboni Missionary who compassionately served the people of God in the area for years, to the level of Blessed. Ambrozoli has been on the road to Sainthood for some years now, and the stage of “Blessed” is the last stage in process of canonization before one is declared a “Saint.” The first two steps are the declaration of a person as a “Servant of God” followed by “Venerable” and the last two stages are “Blessed” and “Saint.”

Preparations are in high gear in the Archdiocese of Gulu with different committees attending to different roles such as mobilizing needed financial resources. As part of the resource mobilization, Christian Farmers under their Association of Cassava Commercialization and Industrialization project are actively participating in collecting funds among themselves to support the church in organizing the important event.

According to Rev Fr Matthew Okun Lagoro, the coordinator of the Cassava Project, the Christian Farmers are participating in the resource mobilization as part of their contributions to the Church. Fr Lagoro shared that the Farmers’ contribution is driven by the wide success registered by farmers under their various groups through the Cassave Project. Rev Fr Okun Lagoro, a member of the Finance Committee in the beatification program is optimistic that with participation and involvement of other stake holders, the Beatification program will be successfully held.

Other Pastoral and Spiritual exercises being conducted in the Archdiocese to prepare Christians for the day include to catechetical programs about the process of beatification, the life of Fr. Dr. Ambrozoli, praying of the Rosary, and adoration.

Other Dioceses within Gulu Archdiocese are also involved in the preparations to ensure the success of the ceremony in response to the invitation of Most Rev John Baptist Odama.
