The Catholic Charismatic Renewal (CCR) of Lira Diocese is holding its Women’s Conference at Asili Girls Vocational Secondary School, Amuca, in Northern Uganda. The four-day event, which began on August 21st and will run until August 25, has attracted women from across the diocese under the theme “In Christ we are a new creation” (2 Corinthians 5:17). Today 23rd August is day two after its kick off.

The conference is graced by guest speakers Silvie and Gaetana from the House of the Open Door Community in the United Kingdom, who are leading presentations and teachings on the role of Catholic women in both spiritual life and socio-economic development. They are joined by the Bishop of Lira Diocese, Rt. Rev. Sanctus Lino Wanok, Rev. Fr. Morris Onyang, the diocesan CCR Spiritual Director, and other facilitators from Emmaus Center Katikamu.

In his opening Mass sermon, Bishop Wanok drew inspiration from the biblical story of Ruth, encouraging women to embrace loyalty, commitment, and the call to be role models within their families. He also encouraged men to embrace the upcoming men’s Guild Umbrella in order to blend with women for better families.
