Fort Portal Diocese Marks Jubilee Year of Hope with Solemn Ceremony
Fort Portal – The Bishop of Fort Portal Catholic Diocese, Rt. Rev. Dr. Robert Muhiirwa Akiiki, has officially launched the Jubilee Year of Hope with a solemn ceremony at Bukwali Parish in Fort Portal City.
The event, which included the opening of the Holy Door, was attended by Auxiliary Bishop Emeritus Joseph Sabiiti Mugenyi, clergy, religious, and laity.
In his homily, Bishop Muhiirwa emphasized the importance of embracing the theme of hope and prioritizing acts of charity towards neighbors and the needy.
He noted that these actions would help restore hope in a world faced with challenges such as hatred, epidemics, wars, suicides, hunger, and more.
The ceremony was initially planned to take place at Virika Cathedral, but due to ongoing renovations, Bukwali Parish was chosen as the alternative venue.
