Ewuata, Arua: Today 15th January 2024, Rev. Fr. Denis Iranya, MIDM who passed on days ago, has been laid to rest at the Generalate of Jesus The Divine Master at Ewuata .
Amongst the mourners was the Ordinary Bishop of Arua Diocese Rt. Rev. Sabino Ocan Odoki who was also the main celebrant and the Bishop of Nebbi Catholic Diocese accompanied by many other religious men and women from with Arua , all over Gulu Archdiocese and Uganda at large and government officials.
In the Bishop’s message as he delivered the Homily, Rt. Rev. Ocan Odoki paid tribute to the late for the achievements he made in Indriana Holy Cross Pilgrimage parish by promoting a monthly pilgrimage that he had sustained bringing a general involvement by Christians upto now.
” For the Rooted work Fr. Iranya has done, I therefore encourage you all Christians to continue walking by it and supporting it.” Bishop Ocan Odoki Emphasized.
He said that the late For. Denis Issa Iranya was a naturally gifted and loved priest by everybody, recalling a scenario when he was a chaplain of the Lay apostolate, he was openly ready to work with him in 2009 until 2014. He became one of the first priests he came to know closely because he loved his pastoral work so much.
He added in conclusion that Fr. Denis never made enemies but only promoted love amongst fellow priests, Christians and neighbors, at which the Bishop has encouraged all the faithful to emulate Fr. Denis’s Life.
More so, Fr. Denis Issa Iranya has so much love for his vocation and call for religious life which he cherished and promised to be before the blessed sacrament to keep closer to God. He also had a very great devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary and loved the Sacrament of Reconciliation ” Penance” . He got himself always amongst the Gulu Archdiocese pilgrims during the GANAL province Annual Pilgrimage.
From most speakers, Fr. Denis Iranya was a people – Oriented Person who loved to socialize with a categories of people especially the Vulnerable groups and young children. This kept him loving a simple generous life in his Priestly journey.
“As a lover of the Environment, late For. Denis Issa Iranya planted a lot of trees in parishes: Arivu, Oleba, Laropi, Pakele, Indriana, Missionaries of Jesus The Divine Master (MIDM) Generalate in Ewuata and Christus Centre.” Said Monsignor Charles Idraku , The Episcopal Vicar for Vurra Vicariate.
The Residents City Commissioner, Arua City in his speech at the same function thanked the church for honoring the departed icon Fr. Iranya and reminded the crowds that the church has done a lot in socioeconomic transformation as heard from most speakers and mostly about the duties of Fr. Denis who has left this world particularly in the Education sector and religious activities. He asked for cooperation from the people and continued support from the church leaders in order to realize prosperity.
” I call upon You all to support the church leaders as well especially the Bishop, the priests, religious brothers and sisters and catechists to do the Lord’s work if which he has chosen them for, other than criticizing and fighting them in order to restore unity and prosperity in all aspects in Arua and Uganda.” Said Arua Residents City Commissioner.
In conclusion, he prayed that may the Soul of Fr. Denis meet the Peace and rest in the Lord who he served.
