Give Respect and Honour to the Eldery, Bishop Serverus Jjumba

Today Masaka Diocese joined the entire world to celebrate the Elderly and Grandparents day. Guided by the theme “Iam with you always” (Mt 28:20), Mass was led by Bishop Serverus Jjumba at his residence in Kitovu.

In his homily, he called upon all Christians to give respect and Honour to the Elderly. Bishop Jjumba also Pointed out the importance of the Elderly (ba Jjajja) in the Church and society as well. He encouraged all the people to give respect and honour to the Elderly, giving them pastoral care and he encouraged the Youths to always be close and learn from them since today has been a joint day of celebration to the Youths and the Elderly.

When concluding, he thanked God for the 28th coronation day of the Kabaka of Buganda and the good life and leadership exhibited in these years. On the theme chose by the Kabaka; “we have to give respect to our culture and norms as honoring our clan leaders for they are elders”. He asks the Parliamentarians to be wise as they discuss issues concerning land. The Bishop concludes inviting us to pray for the “Kabaka” as he celebrates His coronation day in Masaka on the 31st of this Month.
