Jinja Diocese starts preparing for the 2023 Martyrs Day, meets the Catholic secretariat
Nsambya, Kampala: On Tuesday November 29th, heads of different committees of the central organizing committee for namugongo 2023 as organized by the diocese of Jinja met at the Catholic secretariat in Nsambya together with the Secretary General of the Uganda episcopal conference and also the Rector of Namugongo martyrs shrine, Fr. Vincent Lubega.
Among those who attended the meeting were Fr. Paul Okello Wandera the chancellor and spokesperson of the Namugongo central organizing committee, Rtn. Paul Baliraine the chairperson of the central organizing committee, Fr. Paul Musana the vicar general of the diocese of Jinja, Fr. Godfrey Kibumba the treasurer of the diocese of Jinja, Fr. John Baptist Mukwaya in charge of liturgy, Fr. Denis Ngobi in charge of the construction committee, Ms. Josephine Bichachi the chairperson laity of the diocese of Jinja, Dr. Dorcus Musubaho in charge of health, Mr. Okello William the vice chairperson of the finance committee and Rev. Dn. Kenneth Orom from the diocesan social communications office, Jinja diocese.
This was the first meeting with the catholic secretariat organised by the diocese of Jinja, as though the diocese has been holding meetings at home for this same cause as they begin preparations to animate the annual 2023 Uganda Martyrs Day pilgrimage and celebrations at the national shrine, In Namugongo and it was aimed at setting up a stable pace and good coordination between the diocese of Jinja and the other stake holders especially the catholic secretariat who are involved in the organization of Namugongo 2023 celebrations.
Msgr. Kauta the secretary general of Uganda episcopal conference in his words and with gladness said he is optimistic and happy about the early preparations so far the diocese of Jinja is taking and for particularly what is already on ground in the diocese so far, as far as the 2023 Martyrs Day preparation is concerned.
Rev. Fr. Vincent Lubega the rector of the Martyrs Shrine who was also invited and present in the meeting appreciated the pace and how organised the diocese is, and then urged promising total coordination and working together with Namugongo martyrs shrine till the final day of the celebration.
