Lira Diocese Constitutes Social Communications Commission
The Social Communications department of the Lira Diocese has established a six-member commission, which has received the approval of Rt. Rev. Sanctus Lino Wanok, Bishop of Lira Diocese. The commission was officially inaugurated by Monsignor Valente Innocent Opio, Vicar General, during a special prayer event at the Ordination Ground.
The commissioners, introduced by Rev. Fr. Isaac Ojok, Diocesan Communications Secretary, are:

2. Ms. Ebong Doreen
3. Bonny Otim Ogwal
4. Nancy Atim Lapul
5. Ocen Brian
6. Sister Sylvia Atim
Fr. Isaac Ojok will serve as the commission’s secretary.
During the inauguration, Monsignor Valente encouraged the commissioners to promote the teachings and mission of the Catholic Church through effective and responsible communication. He emphasized the importance of conveying God’s message, which fosters joy, love, and peace.
The commission’s inauguration was attended by various stakeholders, including the station manager of Radio Wa, Fr. Lawrence Ogwang. He highlighted the significance of the social communication department’s various channels, including Uganda Catholic Television, Radio Wa, a magazine, and online content.
A fundraising initiative held during the event raised over Shs 3 million to support the Diocese’s communication department. Plans are underway to organize a larger fundraising event to fortify the department.
The commission’s establishment is expected to enhance the Diocese’s communication efforts, promoting the Catholic Church’s teachings and mission to the community.
