Kikuube: Hoima Catholic Diocese with funding from Manos Unidas, a Spanish Catholic women Organization has renovated an administration school block of Munteme Fatima College in Kiziranfumbi sub-county, in Kikuube district.

The intervention was in response to address a disaster of February 2024 when rain associated with strong winds blew off the school admin block roof, an incident that left several school documents destroyed causing panic and discomfort among teachers, learners and parents. The block houses the Head Teacher’s office, Bursar’s office, Staff room and reception.

Handing over the project to the school on Friday 2nd/08/2024, Rev Fr. Patrick Mugisa Amooti applauded the donors for their intervention and challenged the school to ensure the building is well maintained to serve the intended purpose.

He tasked the administration to ensure the school becomes a centre of excellence saying quality education is not only offered in schools from towns or international level.

According to him, quality education is that which empowers the brian, heart and body. “We are bound to produce minor devils if christian values are not embedded in the education” Fr Mugisa cautioned.

He said some youths who despise work using their hands is a clear manifestation that they are learned although they possess higher academic levels of education.

Fr. Mugisa advised Learners to have passion for education, be self motivated and above it all have faith in God.

Deo Byakagaba, the Kikuube district education officer said Kikuube district local government had resolved to intervene in renovating the building but later opted out after learning that Hoima Catholic diocese was offering a helping hand.
He however said they hope to support the school in the coming financial year due to the many challenges it’s facing.

David Basandara, the school Head Teacher commended Hoima Catholic diocese and its partners for the support. He said the school is still facing a big problem of poor infrastructure citing leaking dormitories and a section of classrooms.
The school which is set to commemorate fifty years (50) in existence has an enrollment of 430 students in both O and A levels.

During the function, the school inaugurated the new prefectorial body headed by Mark Muganzi and Winnie Mulinde.
The function started with mass and blessing of the renovated block.

Munteme Fatima College is a Catholic founded government Aided secondary school offering O and A level studies.
