Kampala: St Joseph Centenary Catholic Parish Ndeeba Visits Nalukolongo Bakateyamba for Charity

Today, on the 20th of February, the Ndeeba Catholic parish visited the Bakateyamba Nalukolongo home for their yearly charity event. This tradition happens every year on the same day.

During the visit, the parish donated essential items to those in need, including 10 wheelchairs, food, soap, toiletries, and more.

The event began with a holy mass led by the parish priest, Rev. Fr. Ssekyanzi Simon Peter. He talked about Lent’s pillars: Prayer, Fasting, and Almsgiving. This is why they chose to visit Bakateyamba. His sermon was based on today’s responsorial Psalm, which talks about the Lord rescuing people in distress.

The parish also expressed gratitude to the Good Samaritan Sisters for their great work in helping the needy.

Sr. Lawrence, representing the Good Samaritan Sisters and Bakateyamba, thanked the parishioners from Ndeeba for their generous donations.

About Bakateyamba:
Bakateyamba, also known as Mapeera Bakateyamba’s Home, is a home for the disabled. It aims to assist the needy in society, including the blind, lame, elderly, and destitute. The late Emmanuel Cardinal K. Nsubuga founded the Institute of the Good Samaritan Sisters of Nalukolongo in 1978, inspired by the desire to help needy children and the elderly. He then established the Mapeera Bakateyamba Home at Nalukolongo.
