Nebbi Catholic Diocese Mourns the Loss of it’s Senior Priest Fr. Emilio Onegwa

NEBBI CATHOLIC DIOCESE MOURNS THE LOSS OF ITS SENIOR MOST PRIEST, REV. FR. EMILIO ONEGWA

Nebbi, Uganda – November 28, 2024 – With profound sadness, the Nebbi Catholic Diocese announces the passing of its senior most priest, Rev. Fr. Emilio Onegwa.

Fr. Onegwa, who was born on December 8, 1925, and ordained a priest on June 24, 1956, passed away on November 28, 2024, at 8:50 am at the Holy Family Hospital in Nyapea.

The Diocese had been preparing to celebrate Fr. Onegwa’s centennial birthday, a testament to his remarkable life and dedication to his priestly ministry.

Archbishop Raphael p’Mony Wokorach MCCJ, Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese, and Bishop-Elect Msgr. Constantine Rupiny, mourn the loss of Fr. Onegwa, who was not only the senior most priest in the Diocese but also in the entire Province and possibly the country.

Fr. Onegwa’s passing is a great loss to the Diocese, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

May he rest in eternal peace, and may his legacy of dedication and service to the Lord continue to inspire generations to come.
