St. Andrea Kaggwa Parish, Kigoowa Celebrates 22years since it’s Foundation, Monsignor Wynand cautions on naming children

Kampala: On Saturday 16th July 2022, Saint Andrea Kaggwa Kigoowa Catholic parish celebrated 22years counting the journey from the date the Parish was founded under the Patron saint, Andrew Kaggwa, one of the Holy Martyrs of Uganda.

The celebration took place at the Parish in Ntinda, starting at 10am with a sacrifice of Holy Mass that was led by Monsignor John Wynand Katende who represented His Grace Paul Ssemogerere, the Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Kampala who was to be the main celebrant, but didn’t make it due to various activities of his episcopal ministry outside the country. Monsignor Katende was assisted by a number of Priests to mention: Fr. Dr. Pius Maale, Rev.Fr. Jude Mubiru, Fr. Moses Tamale, Fr. Anthony Musuubire, Fr. John Peter Lugobe and Fr. Kalule Godfrey.

In his Homily during mass, Msgr. Katende asked Christians to avoid all acts which do not bring glory to Lord and to sacrifice anything possible in order to keep their faith, giving an example of the Martyr St. Andrea Kaggwa and his fellow martyrs who chose death, than living a sinful life therefore it is worth for Christians to sacrifice life for Christ’s sake. He continued and argued them to imitate Christ atleast to try, and live an upright spiritual life in order to be worthy to receive blessings and fruits of their faith, as they take part in the annual Parish day celebration, they just celebrated.

” Our life styles as Christians should not be pointing at worldly pleasures, but rather the coming Heavenly joy. It is not of value to just be religious, and be called a Christian, but without showing out Christian behaviors” Monsignor Katende Added.

The Monsignor continued and cautioned all Christians and Parents to always be keen enough and careful when choosing names for their as they take the sacrament of Baptism because a name from a parent has a big effect on that particular child, therefore warning them to chose glorifying names or names carrying goodness thus recommending names of saints, especially Biblical names, such that these young children can live spiritually upright with guidance by their parents directing them to the right paths of faith and morality which will groom them to be better and fruitful people in future.

During this celebration, the people of God were joined by many guests mostly a team of politicians including the Nakawa West Member Of Parliament Hon. Joel Ssenyonyi, Nakawa division mayor Hon. Paul Mugambe, and the DPC of Kira Municipality among others.
