St. Charles Lwanga Jinja Karoli Catholic Parish celebrates 60years, launches a new project

Kawempe, Kampala: Yesterday Sunday 6th November 2022 ,On celebrating 60 years the parish has taken since it’s foundation, St. Charles Lwanga Jinja Karoli Catholic Parish has launched a new project of a modern trading market in names of St. Monica modern Market that is to be constructed on the parish land.

The celebration began with holy mass at 10am led by Monsignor Lawrence Ssemusu who represented the Archbishop of Kampala archdiocese His Grace Paul Ssemogerere.

The monsignor joyfully began by delivering archbishop’s greetings and congratulatory message to the parishioners upon reaching the 60years of grace in the parish, St. Charles Lwanga Jinja Karoli Catholic Parish and thanked them for not only keeping the faith but also supporting the archdiocese of Kampala in all the activities in a special way, gloriously animating the recently celebrated Kampala Archdiocesan Day on 30th October 2022.

On behalf of the Archbishop, he thanked the parish priest, the parish working executive teams, subparish committees and all the parishioners for the great work particularly the idea of starting a social economic developmental project St. Monica modern Market whose construction was launched on the same parish day for the good of all the parishioners to trade in, and rise their economic earnings to continuously and greatly support their families and the work of God in the parish and the archdiocese of Kampala.

Quoting from the gospel and the Bible readings of the day, the monsignor Ssemusu said that God asks us to remain firm to the right paths and good wonderful deeds for they give the glory to God thus asking the parishioners to remain firm to work and develop both financially, socially and religiously hence having launched the most special project of the beautiful modern market in the name of St. Monica this prayed for and wish them God’s blessings, joy and development for the creator glory of God and the blessed journey ahead ahead of the 60 years celebrated for their parish, St. Charles Lwanga Jinja Karoli Catholic Parish.

At the function was Honorable Hajjat Kabanda who attended on behalf of the prime minister of the republic of Uganda Hon. Robinah Nabanja and Hon. Katumba who made pledges of 12million Uganda Shillings and 200 bags of cement to support in the construction of the Modern Market promising total government support, physical and financial involvement since project is aimed at transforming the nationals a move that will curb unemployment thus improving self and family livelihoods of the Christians and all people of Kawempe Maganjo and Nansana municipality as a whole.

St. Charles Lwanga Jinja Karoli Parish Choir – after animating Mass

St. Charles Lwanga Jinja Karoli Catholic Parish is one of the parishes that make up the archdiocese of Kampala lying under Matugga Deanery under the leadership of Rev. Fr. Sylvester Buwembo as the parish priest. It mothers 5 sub parishes of which one of them was recently curved off and erected, opened as an independent new parish in the archdiocese of Kampala a month ago and that is Kawanda Catholic Parish. This parish is located on a beautiful hill in Kawempe, a kilometre off Kampala – Bombo/ Gulu Highway.
