St. Joseph’s Nkooko Catholic Church Elevated to Parish Status

In a joyous celebration, St Joseph’s Nkooko Catholic Church in Kakumiro district has been granted parish status by the Catholic Church in the Diocese of Hoima. The elevation ceremony took place on Monday, with Bishop Vincent Kirabo Amooti of Hoima Catholic Diocese presiding over the event.
The Prime Minister of Uganda, Rt Hon Nabbanja Robinah, who hails from the same area, was the chief guest at the official opening of the parish. Bishop Kirabo Amooti commended Nabbanja for her tireless efforts in ensuring that Nkooko was granted parish status after a long wait.
The new parish, which is the 53rd in the Diocese of Hoima, has been carved out of Bukuumi Parish and comprises two zones with 12 sub-parishes. It sits on 65 acres of land and operates several projects aimed at promoting the well-being of the community.
The elevation of St Joseph’s Nkooko Catholic Church to parish status is a significant milestone for the Catholic community in Kakumiro district, and is expected to boost spiritual growth and development in the area.
