Fort Portal, Uganda – St. Leo’s College Kyegobe community has joyfully marked three significant events: their belated feast day, the sacrament of Confirmation, and the International Day of the Poor.

Rt. Rev. Dr. Robert Muhiirwa Akiiki, Bishop of Fort Portal Catholic Diocese, presided over the Holy Mass, administering the Sacrament of Confirmation to eight students. He encouraged them to cooperate with the Holy Spirit and cultivate the seven gifts.

In his homily, Bishop Muhiirwa stressed regular prayer, the sacraments of Penance and the Holy Eucharist, and resisting peer pressure. He urged the confirmands to focus on studies and future careers.

Observing the International Day of the Poor, Bishop Muhiirwa echoed Pope Francis’ message, emphasizing recognizing and helping the materially poor. He cited Mother Teresa’s words on giving with a smile.

Martin Murungi, SLECK Chapel Council Chairperson, praised spirituality growth and encouraged valuing elders’ wisdom. Rev. Fr. Innocent Guma, College Chaplain, thanked Bishop Muhiirwa for joining the celebrations.

Mr. Trophy Atuhairwe, Headteacher, commended collaboration among sister schools and thanked Bishop Muhiirwa for continuous support.

The event demonstrated unity and commitment to holistic excellence within the St. Leo’s College Kyegobe community.
