ST. MBAAGA SEMINARY’S 47TH ANNIVERSARY MARKED WITH A GLORIOUS 33RD GRADUATION CEREMONY

Ggaba, Kampala: It was a celebratory joyous moment at St. Mbaaga’s Seminary Ggaba yesterday 24th May 2023 as the seminary rounded 47years since it’s foundation where 22 major seminarians and 22 Deacons to the priesthood graduated in their philosophical and theological studies, respectively.

This has been the 33rd graduation ceremony of this institution named after one of the Uganda Matryrs, St. Mbaaga Tuzinde. This year’s graduation ceremony has been celebrated with the theme: “Devoted to one another in Love.”

The function began with a glorious procession of Seminarians majorly graduands, priests and the main celebrant at 9:30am. Rev. Fr. Joseph Sserunjoji the Rector of the seminary welcomed all invited guests and parents thanking them for honouring the invitations.

He thanked students “seminarians” for the dedication, efforts, contributions and the duties they have done for the best of the seminary throughout the course of this academic year, also thanking the teaching staff or lecturers for journeying with the students training them, not forgeting the workers who always help in various sectors of the institution and all people of good will who have always supported the seminary in a special way the Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Kampala His grace Paul Ssemogerere, friends and Alumni priests, POSPA – Pontifical Society of St. Peter the Apostle, Mr. Zenda (Church in need), Mrs. Jutta Becker from Missio Austria, Missio Munich in Germany, century bank, parents and all those who have helped in any way for the well being of the institution.

The rector then delivered his farewell message to the final 8th year theology graduands and asked them to go and be good servants in the priestly office encouraging them to use the knowledge and skills they have gained from the seminary to teach the word of God.

He congratulated all the degree and diploma graduands to take all they have learnt too valuable for the best of their future.

Rt. Rev. Vincent Kirabo who presided over as the chief guest and the main celebrant while delivering his homily, he used the word “first half” that is commonly used in games particularly football and said that all the good things and benefits the seminary has obtained is the first half and all that the the Lord is preparing to begin is the second half time. “Therefore, the Lord gives us a new command, let us go and love our enemies”. Bishop Kirabo added.

He lastly challenged parents and asked them to train good behaviors and loving God to their children, being the core values and importances of parenting. Archbishop Augustine Kasujja Also graced the Function.
