THE REALITY OF COVID-19 PANDEMIC, A TERRIBLE GLOBAL DISASTER

December 2019 is a month that we shall all live to remember. The month where the globe’s worst night mare covid-19 struck.To many of us the name sounded just like any other normal illness, but little did we realize that it was actually indeed more cunning than the devil itself.

I can’t breathe, I feel feverish,  am having cough, flue and sore throat, i can’t smell a thing are signs and symptoms that we feared and ran away from each time someone told you that they were experiencing them.

Number of infections and deaths hit the peak, numbers turned to names and names turned to the people that we knew very well. Each time a phone rang, you feel scared to receive because of the worry of being told to about the death of another loved one.

Along the pandemic came the lockdown which was also another measure by the government to cub the spread of this virus. Along the lockdown came financial constraints, loss of Jobs, Starvation, Rape and Defilement hit the peak. Early marriages and teenage pregnancies became the daily news headlines just like the pandemic. The movement of ambulances and the news of  increased infections and deaths have left many psychologically depressed.

Wait a minute, how about if we correctly mask up, maintain social distances of up to 2 meters from each other, stay at home, wash hands with soap and water, sanitize,  how about maintain a positive mental state through taking a walk or jogging in open places, playing games and watching movies with family, listen to music, read books and eat healthy, maybe if we closely follow the guidelines put before us by our health practitioners and government officials, we could actually eliminate the nightmare of covid-19 for good.

It’s not an easy road to walk given the reality of the monster called covid -19. We call upon the different Stakeholders including the Young people to put Concerted efforts towards controlling this epidemic.

The Saviour is with us. With constant prayer He will brighten the journey which may look oblique.
