The tentative program for the send off of His Grace Paul K. Bakyenga, Emeritus Archbishop of Mbarara, has been announced

The tentative program for the send off of His Grace Paul K. Bakyenga, Emeritus Archbishop of Mbarara, has been announced. The solemn occasion will take place from Tuesday, July 18 to Sunday, July 23, 2023.

The five-day program honors the distinguished service of the Archbishop who retired in 2020 after serving the Catholic Church for over 50 years. The send off will commence with a Holy Mass on Tuesday, July 18 at 5:30 pm at the Nyamitanga Cathedral.

On Wednesday, July 19, there will be Holy Masses at 7:00 am and 5:30 pm, both at the Nyamitanga Cathedral. Thursday, July 20 also has two scheduled Holy Masses at 7:00 am and 5:30 pm, both at the Nyamitanga Cathedral.

Friday, July 21, will feature a Holy Mass at the Lubaga Cathedral at 10:00 am followed by a reception at the Nyamitanga Cathedral at 6:00 pm. The day will be capped off by a Vigil at 8:00 pm at the Nyamitanga Cathedral.

Saturday, July 22, has been set aside for a full day of Holy Masses at the Nyamitanga Cathedral, commencing at 7:00 am and concluding at 7:00 pm.

Sunday, July 23, the final day of the send off, will feature a Holy Mass at 7:00 am, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 am, both at the Nyamitanga Cathedral. The day will conclude with the burial of His Grace Paul K. Bakyenga at 3:00 pm, also at the Nyamitanga Cathedral.
