St. Lwanga Vocational and Secondary School exquisitely celebrates its Silver Jubilee.
Malongwe, Mukono: On the 7th of July 2023, St. Lwanga Vocational and Secondary School marked a momentous occasion as it celebrated twenty-five years since its establishment.
The celebration took place at the school’s premises in Malongwe, Mukono district, beginning with a beautifully organized Holy Mass at 10 am. The Vicar General of the Diocese of Lugazi, Msgr. Dr. Richard Kayondo, led the Mass, accompanied by several co-celebrating priests and the school choir.

The theme for this silver jubilee and school’s day was “Re-igniting St. Lwanga to rise and shine,” which was prominently highlighted in Msgr. Kayondo’s homily. He stressed the importance of cooperative hard work and the pursuit of success. According to him, the success of the school is not achieved by chance but originates from individual development. Just as seeds need proper nurturing and care to grow into fruitful plants, learners must be well-prepared and supported by parents, teachers, and the community to excel academically and beyond.
Msgr. Richard Kayondo emphasized the role of proper nutrition, payment of tuition and school fees by parents, and the need for a friendly and encouraging environment within the neighborhood. He emphasized that when these factors align, divine blessings flow, leading to outstanding success.

Using the analogy of a beautiful floral garden, Msgr. Kayondo urged everyone to strive for excellence in their respective roles. “If you want to make a beautiful floral garden then someone shows you where to get seedlings of various flowers, I’m sure every flower you will see looks beautiful alone and separate and that gives you a picture of how the floral garden you’re going to make, will look like; extremely beautiful with various elegant colours mixed together, and so we need to be good first as a learner, parent or teacher and then extreme glorious success comes next, like the fertile soils waiting for seeds”, He Said .

He highlighted the importance of gratitude for the resources and opportunities available, emphasizing that even the littlest resources can yield substantial results if used wisely.
Msgr. Kayondo shared a personal testimony of his humble beginnings and how his parents’ gratitude and perseverance in financing his education paved the way for his current role as a priest. He encouraged students to fear God and show respect to both themselves and those in authority, as respect is a source of divine blessings. Furthermore, he pledged his support to the school administration, parents, and board in making St. Lwanga Vocational and Secondary School the best Catholic private school in Malongwe, Mukono, and Uganda.
During the celebration, Msgr. Kayondo also administered the sacrament of Confirmation to sixteen students, praying for the gifts of the Holy Spirit upon them.

In a speech on behalf of the school administration and teachers, Rev. Fr. John Of God Masaaba, the Headteacher of the school, warmly welcomed and thanked all the parents and visitors for honoring their invitations and for attending the celebration. He expressed immense gratitude for the journey of 25 years, highlighting the school’s achievements in both academic excellence and the development of practical skills in science, music, and religious matters.

Fr. Masaaba introduced the school’s esteemed teaching staff, whom he referred to as the pride of St. Lwanga School. Each member of the staff was recognized individually, allowing parents and visitors to familiarize themselves with the dedicated individuals ensuring success in their respective departments.
To ensure an atmosphere of joy and celebration, the students’ music clubs, pupils from other invited schools, and external entertainers presented various performances, including entertainment, miming, and plays that kept the guests and parents in high spirits throughout the event.
