Wasswa Joseph, Kato Joachim : Twin Executives of Ugandan Catholics Online Wed in Historic Ceremony at Lubaga Cathedral
Kampala, Uganda: In a ceremony brimming with divine symmetry and communal grace, the Sacred Heart Cathedral of Lubaga became a beacon of Eucharistic love on 26th September 2025 as twin brothers and visionary leaders of Ugandan Catholics Online (UCO) exchanged vows in a dual celebration of the sacrament of Holy Matrimony.

Presided over by His Grace, Archbishop Augustine Kasujja , the event united Kato Joachim Sebunya with Musiimenta Hellen, and his twin Wasswa Joseph Lwamulungi with Nabukwasi Sophie, drawing family, friends, clergy, and a global virtual congregation in a profound witness to Christ’s Paschal Mystery.

The twins, both integral to UCO’s media team and executive leadership, embody the organization’s founding mission: to evangelize the Good News of Jesus Christ and the works of the Catholic Church worldwide through digital platforms, fostering growth in the Eucharist and God’s Word.

Founded in May 2018 as a not-for-profit initiative by Ugandan youth, UCO has grown into a vibrant hub – boasting over 400,000 followers across Facebook,Tiktok and a dedicated YouTube channel, where time, talents in music and sports, and treasures are shared with humility, gratitude, and respect.

The Pamoja(togetherness)wedding amplified this call, streamed live to parishes, diaspora communities, and seekers across continents, inviting all to embrace unity in faith and fellowship amid our diverse multicultural tapestry.

During the Homily the Cathedral Administrator Rev. Fr. Achilles Mayanja invoked the mentorship of the Most Holy Family of Nazareth, urging the newlyweds to mirror the self-giving love of Christ and His Bride, the Church. “In this sacred bond, you twins reflect the indivisible communion of the Trinity,” he proclaimed, “a reminder that marriage is not merely personal but ecclesial, a living icon of hospitality extended to every soul.”
The liturgy unfolded with resonant hymns from the great Choir directed by Mr. Muyomba with musical repertoire, interweaving Luganda chants with English praises, while youth choirs dance moves infused the rite with joyful energy, echoing Uganda’s rich cultural heritage.
Wasswa and Kato, whose sibling harmony has long fueled UCO’s innovative outreach from virtual rosary chains to Eucharistic adoration livestreams,Daily Mass now step into matrimony as doubled pillars of service.

Hellen and Sophie, pillars of grace in their own right, bring talents that will undoubtedly enrich UCO’s global apostolate, blending professional acumen with spousal charity. “This is more than a wedding; it’s a resurrection moment for our community,” shared UCO President Ocatre Slivers in a post-ceremony reflection. “As these couples commit to the Paschal path dying to self, rising in love they inspire us all to share our gifts more boldly, drawing the world to the Heart of Christ.

The celebration spilled into a reception at the St Lawrence University grounds, where guests from across Kampala’s archdiocese and beyond savored a feast of traditional Ugandan delicacies, fellowship, and testimonies. As Online trends, the wedding was termed as “PamojaTwinsWedding” trended among Catholic networks, garnering messages of blessing from as far as the United States and Europe, underscoring UCO’s role in bridging borders.

Alinaitwe Victor, CEO, praised the twins for being good listeners and encouraged maintaining an attentive ear in marriage. He expressed gratitude to Fr. Achilles Mayanja, the Cathedral administrator at Lubaga Cathedral, for grooming the organization’s executives. Victor also thanked Archbishop Paul Semogerere for his advice for UCO to have a chaplain to facilitate receiving church sacraments. He noted, “With that, we received Mrs. Resty Okumu last year, and this year, our twins, and next year we hope for more.”
