NEBBI: The Catholic church in Nebbi Catholic Diocese and the Archdiocese of Gulu is mourning the death of the emeritus Bishop of the Diocese of Nebbi.

According to the official announcement updated by Uganda Episcopal Conference on Facebook 30th July 2022, the conference on a sad note expresses its sympathy for losing one of its members.

It is with sadness that we announce the death of Rt. Rev. Martin Luluga, Emeritus Bishop of Nebbi. He passed on this morning at Nebbi.More details to follow.May his soul rest in eternal peace. Uganda Episcopal Conference Announcement on Facebook

Brief History about Bishop Luluga, Emeritus:

Bishop Emeritus Luluga was born on March 1, 1933 at Lodonga Parish in the present Yumbe District under Arua Diocese. He served as Bishop of Gulu diocese before it was elevated to an archdiocese.

He was ordained Priest on June 1, 1963 and ordained Auxiliary Bishop of Gulu on January 11, 1987.

Rt. Rev. Luluga became the Apostolic Administrator of Gulu in 1988 and was appointed a Diocesan Bishop of Gulu on February 22, 1990.

On April 12, 1990, he was installed as the Bishop of Gulu.

He was appointed Bishop of Nebbi on 2 January 1999 ,Rt Rev Luluga was transferred ahead of his installation as Bishop of Nebbi Catholic Diocese on April 18, 1999 and resigned as bishop on 8th February 2011.

Until his death today, Bishop Emeritus Luluga was serving in Nebbi Catholic Diocese.
