Kampala Archdiocese Xaverians set for the Celebration of 50years

Ggaba, Kampala: All Xaverians across the archdiocese of Kampala, Uganda are ready and set for the Golden jubilee celebration of the Xaverian movement, marking a journey of 50years since it was founded in Kampala Archdiocese. This mega celebration is scheduled to take place tomorrow 9th July 2023 at Ggaba Catholic Parish, Kampala archdiocese.

Besides other jubilee activities, the celebration will begin with a sacrifice of the Holy Mass at 10am that will be led by His Lordship Matthias Ssekamaanya, the Bishop Emeritus of the Catholic diocese of Lugazi who is also to be the Main Celebrant.

About Preparations, our reporter interacted with Mr. Katende George William, the Chief and leader of the Kampala archdiocese Xaverian Movement who gave us the current stand about the preparations and said that the organising team is working and everything is greatly and closely set for the day.

Mr. George William Katende who joined the movement earlier in 1997 at Lubaga parish then under Fr. Achilles Mayanja who was then the Curate added and said that the movement is not only celebrating 50years but also celebrating leaders who have been groomed under the movement and the service that the Xaverians give to the Catholic church.

” I joined the Xaverian Movement when I was still a very young boy and I was inspired by Fr. Achilles Mayanja who was our curate then. I remember when he was interacting with us and called upon the young children boys and girls to get engaged in serving God in the church, where others joined the Missionary childhood and I, with others also joined the Xaverian Movement” , Mr. Katende said.

” Since my Childhood, I wanted and loved to be a priest but later on realized I was called to serve God in the Movement, the choir, church Ushering and in other many church departments where I voluntarily serve happily and proudly”, Mr. Katende Added.

He reminded the people that the Xaverian Movement is not just as people look and think of it, but a wide section of the church that trains the young Catholics to be responsible, punctual, disciplined and God – fearing Leaders both in the church and in their communities and then urged all parents to trust the movement and recommend their sons and daughters to join the movement. He ended by inviting all the parents and the faithful to come and join them in thanking God during the Celebration of the 50years of the movement, on Sunday tomorrow.
