Youth Leader of Kampala Archdiocese Calls on the youth to do Charity to the Elderly.

In a statement released by the youth leader States.

Dear youths, Pope Francis pronounced that on the 25th/07/2021 we shall celebrate the first ever International day for the Elderly and Grandparents. He invites us the youth to reflect on their relevance and contributions to society and also to appreciate and celebrate them in a special way.

We therefore ask you to do Charity to the old people close to you( Bajjajja baffe) by sharing a little with them and even a call to say that you love and care about them.We are celebrating with a theme “Am with You” ( Matt 28:20).

A series of virtual events have been lined up here in the Archdiocese of Kampala to celebrate the first ever International day for the elderly;

1.Special talks on Radio Maria and Radio Sapientia.

2.Special mass in every parish on Sunday the 25th/07/2021.

3. Encouraging young People to spread love to the Bajjajja through donations and special messages to them.

4. A special prayer has been arranged by the Pastrol coordinator and family ministry for us to pray for the elderly and it’s already in circulation.

5. Ssabavubuka and other youth leaders will participate in a Radio program on Wednesday (21st/07/2021) on radio Sapientia at 10pm.

6.On Sunday the 25th/07/2021 there will be a special celebration of mass for the Jjajjaz at Lubaga Cathedral and will be aired live.

We encourage all youth to participate as we celebrate our Bajjajja.

PRAYER FOR THE FIRST WORLD DAY FOR GRANDPARENTS AND THE ELDERLY

I thank You, Lord, for the comfort of Your presence: even in times of loneliness, You are my hope and my confidence, You have been my rock and my fortress since my youth.

I thank You for having given me a family and for having blessed me with a long life. I thank You for moments of joy and difficulty, for the dreams that have already come true in my life and for those that are still ahead of me. I thank You for this time of renewed fruitfulness to which You call me.

Increase, O Lord, my faith, make me a channel of your peace, teach me; to embrace those who suffer more than me, to never stop dreaming and to tell of your wonders to new generations.

Protect and guide Our Pope ( …. ) and the Church that the light of the Gospel might reach the ends of the earth. Send Your Spirit, O Lord, to renew the world, that the storm of the pandemic might be calmed, the poor consoled and wars ended.

Sustain me in weakness and help me to live life to the full in each moment that You give me, in the certainty that you are with me every day, even until the end of the age.Amen.
